For all of the FootSail partners and scores of other Bermudians, football represents more than a game. Football has played a major role in developing and shaping who we are today. Our coach education initiatives was designed to build on these successes by creating an army of quality coaches, able to produce quality players capable of reaching their full potential.
Our efforts have stretched beyond the playing fields as we readily agreed to assist local clubs with highly successful initiatives to include fund raising drives, grant writing and creating innovative youth development programs. Our partners have had ownership stakes in a USL franchise and separately initiated and drove the formation of a new Bermudian based USL 2 franchise.

The program which started in August 2008, led to dozens of Bermudian student athletes securing places culminating with many matriculating to top Universities on student/athlete (soccer) scholarships.
BFF executives secured sponsorship allowing all 16 student/athletes to participate at no cost. The program was eventually transferred to the Bermuda Football Association when BFF executives assumed senior roles in the organization. Sponsors remained in place.
Bermuda Football Association

Bermuda Football Association….The notion that Bermuda’s football was in a free-fall was largely anecdotal to BFF members but with every program completed, it became increasingly clear that there was a real need for a comprehensive examination of the local football environment and a clear way forward. BFF members challenge and bring their energy and knowledge to the BFA.
Starting in late 2007, the BFF managed to secure the services of Joe Babiec, a leading Strategic Planner whose impressive body of work included the Bermuda Alliance for Tourisms’ Long Term Strategic Plan. With direct involvement of many past and current football players, coaches, administrators and sponsors, the framework for what would become the Bermuda Football Association’s Strategic Plan for “Rebuilding the Competitiveness of Bermuda Football” was completed. BFF members would run on this platform and win seats on the BFA Executive Committee including the role of BFA President. Many of the programs created at the BFF would be adopted by the BFA including the programs’ sponsorship support.

LOAD MOREThe Bermuda Football Coaches Association (BFCA)

THE Bermuda Football Coaches Association (BFCA)…..BFF members with the support of Joe Babiec, led a small group of former Bermuda National Team coaches and ABC Football Foundation partners, through a series of meetings culminating in the creation of a Strategic Plan, Constitution and Implementation Plan leading to the formation of the Bermuda Football Coaches Association. Soon thereafter, the BFCA was formally ratified with a full slate of executive members.
The BFA’s 2009-2012 Strategic Plan outlined a pathway to reverse the decline in Bermuda’s football competitiveness and ultimately achieve its full potential at all levels of competition. One of the key issues outlined in the plan was the need to address Player Development, in part using highly qualified coaches. Working directly with Jacques Crevoisier, the BFCA introduced several coach education and Certification/License programs with the introduction and full implementation of the UEFA ‘B’ License at the top.
BFF members organized all aspects of a BFCA Speaker’s Night (fundraiser) featuring Gérard Houllier, the FC Redbull Sporting Director and former French Senior National Team Managerand Manager for Liverpool FC, PSG, Lyon F.C. and Aston Villa.

JAVIER MALLO SPORTS CONDITIONING, NUTRITION AND TRAUMA SEMINAR

The aim of the seminar is to present a novel methodological approach to team sports training. During the last decade, coaches (and physical education teachers as an extension) have learned the principles of individual sports and applied them to collective sports such as football, basketball, handball, hockey, etc. However, team sports have a completely different nature than individual disciplines and, hence, require for a divergent coaching perspective based on: (1) the specific characteristics of the sportsperson, and (2) the internal logic of each team sport. During this seminar we will present, from a theoretical and practical point of view, the latest coaching and methodological principles adopted by elite European teams during the recent years. Even though, we will take football as the reference sport to explain the model, the coaches/teachers will see that most of the concepts can be trans-disciplinary applied to other team sports. In addition, we will include relevant medical aspects which can help coaches and teachers in their daily practices.
